The partners of the Long Life Learning Project “Towards a European Qualification Framework for Solid Waste Facilities’ Managers – acronym SWFM-QF” are pleased to invite you to the SWFM-QF Final Conference that will be held on Friday the 10th of October 2014 at the Mediterranean Palace Hotel, in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece

During the conference, the results of SWFM-QF project will be analytically presented along with other interested issues referring to solid waste management and managers’ vocational training activated in the field. During SWFM-QF project the qualifications modules, described in terms of learning outcomes, knowledge, skills and competences, which are necessary for the profession of modern solid waste facilities managers’ operating different types of such facilities were analytically developed. Additionally, they were designated the training courses which are necessary for the acquisition of the identified qualifications. SWFM-QF Final Conference will include three separate sessions. During the first session, the project’s outcomes and results will be analytically presented. During the second session invited speakers, exhibiting expertise on solid waste management and vocational training issues will present current evolutions on the abovementioned fields. The third session will deal with the sustainability and further exploitation of SWFM-QF project results and delivered products. The SWFM-QF draft project agenda will be shortly issued. The SWFM-QF project aims at developing a European qualification and training framework to address the needs of Facilities Managers in the waste management industry. SWFM-QF project is being carried out by a consortium of organisations from across 8 European nations. SWFM partnership incorporates 13 partners from 8 different EU countries including countries from Northern, Central and Southern Europe. The transnational character of the project presents a particular added value since it deals with issues of common concern at EU level.

SIGMA Consultants Ltd (SIGMA), is the project leader and an engineering and consultancy firm with a long standing activity in the Greek and European market. The company was founded in 1992 in Thessaloniki aiming to support the efforts of private enterprises, local authorities and sector organizations.
